Awards 2006 PIA (Planning Institute of Australia) Planning Ministers Award for Implementation of Melbourne 2030 Awarded to the development or structure plan that implements the key principles of Melbourne 2030. The Village is an active on the ground example of Melbourne 2030 at work and it clearly demonstrates the transition from site to concept to active development. The development plan focuses on higher density development close to transport links; connectivity to the existing community and infrastructure; road networks that support foot, cycle and vehicle traffic; promoting the use of public transport and transforming a former industrial site into a vibrant urban village.
